Damage: 100% severe by fire to trailer and contents

Believed Cause: Lorry hitting bridge and causing ignition

Initial Information: Multiple calls received to a HGV lorry fire

Updated Incident Information: On arrival Incident Commander confirms 1 HGV trailer unhitched from tractor unit, well alight
1 jet and 2 BA in use. 1 Compressed air foam branch also in use.
Incident required the attendance of the Water carrier from Lutterworth station.
Lorry trailer contents - Perfume and aerosols - aerosols are exploding as load continues to burn.
02:59 hrs: 2 main jets in use, affected trailer has been demounted from tractor unit. Environment Agency required to attend.
03:56 hrs: Water relay has been established with Water Carrier refilling from hydrants. Assistance message for third pump with Compressed Foam System on board to assist at incident ground.
04:22 hrs: Message from incident ground requesting assisting with JCB (or similar) to help demolish trailer and drag contents out to fully extinguish fire.
04:44 hrs: Highways Agency representative (to arrange road closure in area) and recovery agents are both in attendance.
05:29 hrs: Warwickshire appliance has been released from incident. Both Hinckley & Central's crews are attempting to gain access to trailer by removing side wall using reciprocating saw. 1 compressed air foam system jet in use, Water Carrier still being used to provide bulk water. Attempts are being made at incident to access a JCB for clearance of trailer.
06:35 hrs: Approx 25% of contents of trailer have been removed using drag forks. Crews currently receiving a welfare break whilst recovery agency create better access for crews. Compressed air foam system jet and small gear in use.
07:50 hrs: Top deck of the affected trailer has been removed dragging out and damping down using drag forks and 1 compressed air foam system jet in progress. The A5 will remain closed until approximately 14:00hrs.
08:34 hrs: Dragging out and damping down in progress. 1 Compressed air foam system jet and drag forks in use. Fire service continuing to liaise with on site recovery team.
11:51 hrs: STOP MESSAGE - All equipment has now been made up. Incident handover form has been passed over to recovery team. Road will remain closed until successfully cleared by recovery team.
