Damage: 100% to machine and contents, 10% to next machine and very slight smoke damage to the rest of the building
Believed Cause: Accidental - Mechanical failure due to overloading of tumble dryer machine
Initial Information: The initial call came from a member of the public to a machine on fire within a launderette. All customers had evacuated the premises.
Updated Incident Information: On arrival, crews advised that a small fire had been located within a gas powered tumble dryer. Two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet were put in use.
The fire was extinguished and a positive pressure ventilation fan was put to use. Salvage was carried out and all equipment made up.
