Believed Cause:

Initial Information: The call was received directly from the premises stating that the roof canopy was hanging off in a dangerous location over the entrance to the store.

On arrival, fire crews confirmed that a large section of the entrance canopy was hanging off. The store had been closed and the entrance cordoned off whilst crews attempted to secure the hanging section.

An Aerial Ladder Platform was requested by crews at the scene and the store was reopened for customers using the rear entrance. Fire Service crews were liaising with facilities contractor.

Updated Incident Information: Following inspections of roof canopy by fire service and maintenance contractor, a roof section measuring 9 meters by 5 meters, was lowered using lines. Further inspection of roof is being carried out.
