Believed Cause: accidental

Initial Information: LFRS received just under 50 calls into the control centre reporting the grass verge being involved in fire

Updated Incident Information: Crews found there to be a number of seats of fire on the grass verge on the west bound carriageway. 1 hose reel and 1 beater in use.
All fires have now been extinguished. Approx area 80 square metres. Crews have made up equipment and incident is now being left with the highways agency.
A42 was closed by the highways. Fire service are now leaving the scene to allow highways to reopen the road.
