Fire and Rescue Service Vehicles Attended: 4 appliances - from Western, Birstall, Eastern and Central stations, Water carrier, fire fogging unit and command support vehicle.

Damage: 90% by fire to standing corn

Believed Cause: Accidental ignition

Initial Information: Call received to a field fire, initially 2 appliances sent. On arrival a request was received for a further appliance and water carrier to assist. Further request then received for another appliance and fire fogging unit vehicle to attend.
Field of standing corn involved in fire, also spreading to hedgerows. Field measuring approximately 4 acres. Fire fighters currently using beaters to extinguish fire.

Updated Incident Information: Good efforts being made by fire crews knocking down fire, bulk of the fire is confined to the field involved, hot spots still being found in the hedgerow, some appliances will be released shortly.
