Believed Cause: Under investigation - fire investigation to be carried out in daylight hours

Initial Information: Emergency call received at 23:50 to a fire within a care home on Highfield street in Leicester, 2 Fire appliances mobilised at time of initial call.

Updated Incident Information: on arrival crews quickly requested the assistance of a 3rd appliance for additional personnel and breathing apparatus.

one care home consisting of 3 floors involved in fire, property measures approximately 10m by 10. Fire located on the first floor. The premise has been evacuated. 2 breathing apparatus, 1 hose reel jet in use, 1 covering jet laid out.

00:28 - Fire has now been extinguished, damping down and cutting away in progress.

all flats within building have now been checked and cleared of smoke. All appliances have now left the scene and one appliance will return in the morning for a re-inspection.
