Damage: 100% severe by fire to mattress, remainder of stairwell by heat and smoke

Believed Cause: Fire Investigation carried out during daylight hours and determined to be deliberate ignition.
Fire Investigation complete and Fire Service have left the scene.
Incident handed over to Leicester City Council.

Initial Information: Multiple calls received to smoke outside flats which stopped occupants leaving their properties. Fire Survival Guidance given by Fire Control staff to 2 different callers.

Updated Incident Information: Crews advised that persons trapped with 3 flats in block, 3 further flats were also being checked, fire was on the ground floor within communal stairwell. 4BA and 2HR jets in use.
Building consisted of 3 floors, ground, first and second, measuring approx 10 metres by 50 metres.
BA withdrawn and positive pressure ventilation fans in use for smoke clearance
Occupants of one flat taken to hospital as a precaution due to smoke inhalation.
