Damage: 100% severe by fire to lounge and bedroom, 50% by fire to kitchen and hallway, severe by smoke to flat and corridor, 40% light smoke damage to remainder of the building.

Believed Cause: Believed Carelessly Discarded Smoking Materials

Initial Information: Leicestershire Fire and Rescue service were called to a report of a flat fire on Davison close in Leicester just before 3am this morning, information from the caller suggested there could be people still inside. 3 Appliances were initially mobilised however upon arrival Fire Crews quickly requested the assistance of a further 3 fire engines. The fire was isolated to a single flat however other areas of the block of flats were effected by smoke logging. A thorough search of the entire block of flats was carried out by fire fighters wearing breathing apparatus and all persons were accounted for. A total of 9 persons were led to safety and evacuated from the premise by fire fighters. 6 people were assessed by East Midlands Ambulance Service for smoke inhalation at scene and 1 person was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary by Ambulance for further treatment.

The fire was extinguished by Fire Fighters using 4 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reels and a main jet. The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.
