Damage: 50% fire damage, 50% heat and smoke damage to flat involved
Believed Cause: Blvd to be unattended smoking materials
Initial Information: Several 999's calls received to reports of a flat involved in fire on Drummond Walk, Melton Mowbray. On arrival this was confirmed as a ground floor flat involved in fire with large amounts of smoke issuing through all 3 levels. Fire Fighters wearing breathing apparatus quickly got to work using hose reel jets to contain and extinguish the blaze.
All persons from the flat involved had evacuated safely prior to our arrival however due to the large amounts of smoke one male casualty was rescued from a second floor window by Fire Fighters using a 9m ladder. the male rescued was suffering from smoke inhalation and was treated by East Midlands Ambulance service.
A further 2 casualties who managed to evacuate the first floor of the premise were also found to be suffering signs of smoke inhalation and were treated by Ambulance crews.
