Believed Cause:

Initial Information: Initial call received to a hissing noise and a strong smell of gas in the area of a construction site. Fire Service in attendance found a fractured 4 inch gas main. 60 metre cordon being put into place. One jet laid out. Gas Board requested and will be attending. Both lanes of dual carriageway closed city bound, inner/outer cordons in place, gas monitors being got to work to take readings. Gas Board in attendance. Electricity Board requested to attend incident due to nearby Electrical Sub Stations.

Updated Incident Information: Police in attendance and both sides of the dual carriageway were closed, Monitors were set up to protect surrounding properties, Gas Board inspected the scene. Cordons in place and Fire Service monitoring gas levels. Further Gas Engineers in attendance assessing damage and gas isolated to the fracture main.
