Damage: 100% by fire to warehouse

Believed Cause: Accidental - electrical fault to internal wiring

Initial Information: Multiple calls were received by Fire Control to a large fire in a warehouse on Brougham Street in the city. The owner of the building confirmed that everyone had evacuated the building.

On arrival, the first two appliances requested assistance of a further four appliances and then again for an aerial ladder platform. Three Officers were also mobilised to the incident at that time.

Updated Incident Information: Crews at the scene confirmed that a building containing furniture, was well alight. The incident was sectorised, with 3 main jets and 2 breathing apparatus in Sector 3 and 3 personnel working on the roof and 2 additional main jets and an aerial ladder platform working within Sector 1.

15:00 - Good progress was being made in both sectors. 4 main jets and 4 breathing apparatus under Stage 1 working in open air. Operations at roof level in Sector 3 have now ceased. A Building Inspector was requested to attend, along with the Environment Agency. All utility companies have been informed and both Cadent and Western Power have representatives at the scene.

16:25 - Good progress being made extinguishing the fire in both sectors. The Building Control Officer is in attendance at the scene and has requested a demolition company to attend to demolish the unstable building. Severn Trent Water are in attendance and relief appliances have been scheduled.

17:31 - Fire has been extinguished and any hot spots are being dealt with by the crew of the aerial ladder platform. Gas and Electric representatives are at the scene and are attempting to isolate services.

14/04/18 - Fire crews continuing to inspect the site and damping down where required. The fire investigation is ongoing today.

14:13 STOP - Following an inspection, all fires have now been extinguished and there are no remaining hot spots.
