1 male casualty was assisted from property, suffering smoke inhalation and was conveyed to LRI by road ambulance as precautionary measure. Fire was located in kitchen area, all other persons accounted for. 2 BA , 1HRJ and 1 Jet were used to extinguish fire.
Fire was extinguished and property was ventilated, gas and electricity isolated, following fire investigation the cause was confirmed as a faulty fridge causing 80% fire damage to kitchen area and 80% smoke damage to remainder of the property.
Smoke alarms were in place at the property and raised the occupants awareness of the fire. Public Statement Issued: This incident is a prime example of the importance of having working smoke alarms fitted within your property. Without smoke alarms being present then end result of this incident may have been far more serious. We cannot stress enough, fit smoke alarms and test them regularly.
