Fire and Rescue Service Vehicles Attended: Two appliances from Central Station, two from Eastern Station and One from Wigston plus Command Support Vehicle from Shepshed that was turned back on route.

Damage: 100% to ignited paper bag and 10% to hob by fire

Believed Cause: Accidental: hob switched on with items left on top

Initial Information: The emergency call was made by the occupier stating that there was a fire within the kitchen of the property and that they were able to evacuate.
Crews confirmed that there was a small fire in a metal tray on top of the hob which was extinguished by the Fire Service using water from the tap and a fire blanket.
The occupier had correctly used the fire blanket and turned off the hob prior to evacuating the property.
