Fire and Rescue Service Vehicles Attended: 1 from Eastern Fire Station, and the technical rescue team from Southern fire station

Believed Cause:

Initial Information: 17:15 1 horse lying in a 3 foot ditch, involved electrical fence has been isolated prior to the arrival of the fire service. Cutting of cables using entrapment cutters and wire cutters. Assessment of the horse is taking place.

Updated Incident Information: 17:33 Vet is now in attendance and crews are currently trying to ascertain the best access for forklift truck which is assisting in the rescue. Technical rescue are standing by to assist with horse rescue after the horse has been sedated

17:45 vet has now sedated the horse and strops are now in position. Awaiting positioning of forklift truck to lift the horse from the ditch.

18:02 Further sedation of horse is required before rescue takes place. Fire crews standing by waiting for this to take effect.

18:06 Horse has now been extricated by crews not using the forklift truck. horse is now being examined by the vet

18:27 Horse is now being led to its own field by fire service personnel, the vet, and its owner. All equipment is now being made up.
