Initial Information: Fire reported in the open near the railway line on Humberstone Lane Thurmaston
On arrival Birstall Appliance put in an assistance message to make pumps 2 for extra water.

Updated Incident Information: 18:45 - Large area of scrap waste involved in fire. 1 HR in use next to railway line. Crews fighting fire
18:59 - Assistance message - make pumps 4 for personnel
19:28 - Large amount of scrap from garage, 3 vans and 1 car. Large trees surrounding property are all involved in fire. 4 main jets in use. 2 BA working in the open under stage one. Main train line still running adjacent to the incident. Police in attendance assisting with cordon.
20:05 - Large amount of scrap, 3 vans and 1 car involved in fire. 4 main jets and 2 BA in use.
20:35 - Firefighting continues. 4 BA under stage one entry control. 4 main jets and 1 safety officer has been appointed for whole incident. Analytical risk assessment has been carried out for both sectors. Contact with the Environment Agency rep has taken place and is aware of all hazards and run off from the site. They currently have no concerns.
21:11 - 2 BA under stage 1 entry control, 2 main jets in use. Damping down and turning over in progress. STWA and network rail reps have both left the incident. Level 2 fire investigation officer will be required to attend the incident in daylight hours. An update of analytical risk assessment is currently taking place.
21:56 - Damping down and turning over in progress. 2 BA under stage 1 entry control. 1 HR Jet. 1 LPG cylinder has been discovered and removed from the incident. Leicestershire Police are issuing a safety message to local residents via social media. This includes local residents keeping all doors and windows closed due to smoke plume. Scaling down and making up equipment in progress in preparation for handing over to relief pumps.
