Believed Cause:

Initial Information: A call was received to a refuse lorry, who's load had caught fire. The driver had emptied the load from the lorry, so a large quantity of rubbish was involved.

Updated Incident Information: On arrival, fire crews confirmed that approximately two tonnes of recyclable cardboard and paper were involved in fire and a hot spot within the lorry was also found. Two hose reel jets were in use and crews had partially closed the road off for road safety.

The hot spots found within the bin lorry were extinguished. The rubbish pile was being extinguished using two hose reel jets and drag forks.

The Police were in attendance and the Fire Service were liaising with Biffa, who were to arrange removal of the rubbish.
