Damage: Lorry and contents destroyed by fire

Believed Cause: Accidental - Gas leak ignited by naked flame

Initial Information: 07:47 - 1 Lorry believed to be carrying gas well alight, 1 monitor in use.

07:55 - 1 lorry carrying asphalt involved in fire. Vehicle believed to be carrying 3 small cylinders which have vented. 2BA, 1 main jet in use.

08:05 - 2BA, 1 monitor and 1 hand held jet and 1 HR now in use. Area has been cordoned. Request the attendance of the environment agency due to water run off containing asphalt materials.

08:17 - Fire now out BA has been withdrawn. Main jets no longer in use. 1HR in use to reduce water run off and reduce environmental impact.

Updated Incident Information: 09:52 - STOP - One 7.5 tonne Iveco van involved in fire carrying 1 tonne of bitumen contained in a tank on rear of vehicle. Vehicle also carrying 5 x 19kg propane cylinders that remain intact. 1 x 47kg propane cylinder has exploded. Fire has been fully extinguished and no excessive temperatures on vehicle or cylinders found. Police are arranging recovery of vehicle and carrying out traffic control.
