Believed Cause:

Initial Information: Initial information received suggested 3 cars involved in a RTC, one vehicle is now on fire. unsure if any person trapped in any of the vehicles.

Updated Incident Information: On arrival Fire service personnel confirmed this incident involves 2 cars and 1 HGV. one car is well alight in the center of the carriageway, 2 breathing apparatus and 1 hose reel in use to deal with car fire. Fire service personnel are treating 1 casualty. All persons from all vehicles are accounted for and no persons trapped. Leicestershire Police and East midlands Ambulance paramedics are in attendance.

23:50 - Car fire has been extinguished and damping down still taking place. The second vehicle has been made safe by fire service personnel. A full closure of the M1 northbound has been put in place.

00:15 - one male casualty has been conveyed to Coventry hospital by road ambulance. all vehicles involved have now been made safe. Damping down still in progress. M1 north remains closed at this time. incident left with the Police
