Believed Cause:

Initial Information: Initial call received from Police to a road traffic collision believed to involved 2 vehicles with 1 person trapped.

Updated Incident Information: Upon arrival crews advised 2 cars and 1 HGV involved in RTC. 1 passenger out on arrival and another casualty trapped with suspect femur injuries.
Extrication of casualty taking place and crew confirmed both Police and Ambulance in attendance. HGV which was also involved has a damaged fuel tank which is leaking, crews currently trying to stem flow.
Motorway currently closed in both directions.
00:24 - Fuel leak from the HGV has been stopped, extrication of 1 casualty still taking place. 3 other casualties on scene have been checked by EMAS as a precaution. both carriageways remain closed at this time.
00:33 - Casualty now extricated and being conveyed to Walsgrave Hospital by road ambulance. Northbound carriageway remains closed for vehicle recovery, Southbound carriageway is now open.
01:09 - Highway Agency have confirmed 1 lane has now opened on the Northbound carriageway.
