Believed Cause: Carelessly discarded cigarette through a vent into the basement by a member of the public.

Initial Information: The call was received from a member of the public reporting smoke from a shop on Hinckley Road.

Updated Incident Information: On arrival, crews advised that smoke was issuing from the basement of a shop. Two breathing apparatus and one high pressure hose reel jet were in use.

The basement was ventilated, a large amount of cardboard was removed from the property and breathing apparatus was withdrawn.
