Believed Cause: The cause is under investigation

Initial Information: Call received to alarm sounding and smoke issuing from a shop on Upperton Road in Leicester. 2 appliances from Central Fire Station mobilised. On arrival they made pumps 3 and a further appliance was mobilised from Western Station.

Updated Incident Information: 01:27 - Ground floor used as a polish supermarket well alight. 4BA, 2 main jets and 1 covering jet laid out. First and second floor flats are now being searched. Police are in attendance and Upperton Road is now closed.
01:39 - Request from crews for more resources. Appliances from Eastern and Southern stations as well as the Command Support Vehicle from Shepshed and Welfare vehicle from Kibworth sent to the incident.
01:46 - Commercial property consisting of 3 floors and a cellar measuring approx 20 metres x 20 metres. 2 BA and 2 main jets in use.
02:43 - Damping down of hot spots and cutting away in progress. Gas and electrics have been isolated.
03:39 - Ventilation taking place and thermal image camera in use checking for hot spots.
04:23 - Equipment being made up. Re-inspection to take place and 06:30 and fire investigation continues.

08:28 - Following re-inspection, fire crews confirmed that the fire was extinguished and no hot spots were found in the shop or the flats above.
