Believed Cause: ACCIDENTAL - BLOWN TURBO ENGINE FAILURE

Initial Information: CALL RECEIVED FROM TRAIN STATION REPORTING A PASSENGER TRAIN THAT HAD JUST ARRIVED AT PLATFORM 3 WAS ON FIRE AT THE REAR, TRAIN BEING EVACUATED. FULL CLOSURE ON ALL TRAIN LINES WERE IN PLACE.

FIRST MESSAGE FROM ATTENDING CREWS CONFIRMED FIRE LOCATED IN CENTRE OF ENGINE CARRIAGE, 4BA, 1 HOSEREEL AND EXTINGUISHERS BEING GOT TO WORK, TRAIN ENGINEERS ON SCENE AND TRAIN HAS BEEN EVACUATED, AMBULANCE AND POLICE IN ATTENDANCE, RAIL OFFICER IN ATTENDANCE, 2 TRAIN LINES HAVE BEEN REOPENED TO ALLOW RAIL TRAFFIC TO FLOW.

Updated Incident Information: TRAIN ENGINEERS HAVE INSPECTED CARRIAGE, MAJOR FAULT WITHIN CARRIAGE. PLATFORM TO REOPEN SHORTLY, ALL LINES AT STATION REMAIN UNDER CAUTION.

STOP - ONE SMALL FIRE IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUSED BY MAJOR ENGINE FAILURE, INCIDENT HANDOVER OVER TO EAST MIDLANDS TRAIN ENGINEERS WHO WILL ARRANGE RECOVERY OF CARRIAGE.
