Damage: 5 SQUARE METRES TO WALL, DECKING AND FACIAS BY FIRE

Believed Cause: ACCIDENTAL - DISPOSABLE BBQ LEFT UNATTENDED

Initial Information: Several calls received reporting a fire on the balcony of a highrise property at this location.
Crews from around the City attended.
Building consisting of 6 floors, measuring 18 x 30 metres. Fire was located on 3rd floor roof balcony area caused by a disposable BBQ left on a wicker chair.
2 breathing apparatus, 1 hosereel jet and 2 covering jets laid out .
Damping down and cutting away in progress using Thermal Image Camera.

Updated Incident Information: STOP - monitoring of fire carried out using Thermal Image Camera, no further hotspots found.

Public Statement Issued: Please DO NOT leave BBQs unattended. Ensure that the coals are completely extinguished using copious amounts of water, leave them on a concrete or brick surface which cannot catch fire from any radiated heat and dispose of sensibly once completely cold
