There are many LGBT+ related events that take place throughout the year; locally, nationally and globally. There are now so many taking place around the world that it would be impossible to list them all, but on this page, you will be able to find information on some of the events that are pertinent to those in our LGBT+ communities in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

LGBT History Month

February is celebrated as the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) History Month in the UK and in some parts of the world. This is intended to celebrate the lives and achievements of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people and communities and also to highlight the need to challenge homophobia, biphobia and transphobia. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service has, over the years supported initiatives during LGBT History Month. 3. Rainbow badges available to staff on request (limited number) through the Equality and Diversity Advisor

Leicester Pride

Leicester Pride is Leicester’s annual Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) festival, held at the beginning of September each year (normally on the first Saturday). The event has traditionally been free to attend and celebrates equality and diversity in our community. Leicester Pride is a family event with entertainment and attractions suitable for all ages. The event starts at 12 noon with a parade through the city centre leading to the festival site on Victoria Park. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service support the event each year alongside our colleagues from Leicestershire Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service, participating in the parade and with a large presence at the park. Our aim is to celebrate with our LGBT+ community, whilst offering safety advice and information on recruitment. We also attend many other Pride events, regionally and nationally. A list of Pride events around the UK can be found below.
