FOI Ref: 809 – Emergency Vehicle Breakdowns

Request:

  1. How many instances of emergency vehicles (e.g. police cars, fire engines, ambulances) needing roadside assistance were recorded between 2004-15? If the data doesn’t stretch back to 2004, please use the earliest you have. 

      2. In such cases, was the cost of recovery paid to a 3rd party? If so, what is the current call out charge? 

Response:

  1. Please see attached list of our vehicles that have been recovered by a third party since the middle of 2011.
  1. The costs of this service are:-

Light vehicles up to 3.5 ton are charged at £45.50 per hr from base and back to base

Fire Appliances are charged at Callout £40.00 then £59.50 per hr from base and back to base

Accident and off road recovery is charged on an incident by incident basis depending on equipment/manpower used.
