INVESTIGATION CONCLUDED AFTER FATAL FIRE IN HINCKLEY

A house fire on Trinity Lane, Hinckley, claimed the life of the male occupant on the morning of Sunday 4 February. A fire investigation took place which determined the fire was caused by a chip pan.

Three appliances attended the incident, two from Hinckley Fire and Rescue Station and one from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and rescued the male occupant who was trapped inside. Despite our best efforts to resuscitate him, he sadly passed away at the scene.

This is a terrible tragedy and the thoughts of the Fire and Rescue Service are with the family and friends of the deceased. We are fortunate that this type of tragedy seldom happens.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service will be present in the local area during the next few days to provide reassurance and advice to residents about how they can avoid a similar scenario from happening to them.

It’s essential everyone stays safe from fire in their homes. We will offer advice on smoke alarms, escape plans, cooking safety and offer the chance to request a free Home Fire Safety Check.

We plan to be in the local area, knocking on doors offering free fire safety advice on: Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 February, Trinity Road area

In the meantime, a wide range of tips on how to keep you and your home safe from fire are available on Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service’s website which can be found by visiting www.leicestershire-fire.gov.uk/your-safety/at-home.
