His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) last inspected Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service in October/November 2024.
What is HMICFRS?
This is part of a national programme to inspect all 45 fire and rescue services in England.
In 2024, HMICFRS carried out an inspection of Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (FRS). They inspected how well the Service performed in several areas. Each of the areas were then graded as outstanding, good, adequate, requires improvement, or inadequate.
The report areas cover the operational service provided to the public, the efficiency of the service (including value for money), and how well the Service looks after, trains, and develops its people, and how well it promotes its values and culture, ensures fairness and diversity for the workforce.
The HMICFRS inspection was completed in October/November 2024. The Service received the final report in April 2025. There were 11 sections within the summary report. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service received a grade of Good in six of those, one section was identified as Adequate, and four sections Required Improvement. The graded judgments can be seen below:
