In June, we received our inspection report from Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS). In the areas of effectiveness, efficiency and people, it graded the Service as ‘Requires Improvement’. It also identified 24 areas for improvement and made other comments which the Service will look to address as part of our desire to improve the service we give to the public and our staff.

In response to the report, we have now produced our Improvement Plan. This is a comprehensive document which shows how the Service has reacted positively, and details the actions we are taking to address all the areas of improvement identified by the HMICFRS. The Service will continue to show progress against this Plan and will report to the HMICFRS and Combined Fire Authority’s Corporate Governance Committee, to ensure our continued improvement in all areas.

Please take the time to read the Improvement Plan which can be accessed by clicking here.

In response to the 24 areas for improvement identified, we have been working through our Improvement Plan to address these areas, which included work to action 20 other identifiable comments from within the report that required attention.

The Improvement Plan was published in August 2019 and it contains 88 individual actions. As of the end of June 2020, we have completed 31 of these actions.
