Market Bosworth Fire and Rescue Station Major Refurbishment Works Completion

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service is pleased to announce the completion of extensive building works at Market Bosworth Fire and Rescue Station.

While the exterior retains the charming look of a rural On-Call Fire Station, the interior has been transformed into a state-of-the-art, fully functional facility ready to meet future needs.

Station Manager Richard Featherby says, "It is an absolute privilege to oversee Market Bosworth Station during its period of transformation. We are thrilled to see this level of investment in our Station to ensure we can continue to deliver a high standard of service to our communities."

The exciting new facilities include a spacious lecture room, modern workstations and office space, a functional gym, and improved decontamination facilities. The Station has been further upgraded with brand-new appliance bay doors, marking the first time Bosworth has had red doors.

Market Bosworth Station was opened in 1978 by the people of Market Bosworth and this week was re-opened (9 July 2024) by Deputy Lieutenant Alison Smith MBE, on behalf of His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Mr Mike Kapur OBE.

We are also pleased to have created a dedicated area to support the Station's fundraising efforts for the Fire Fighters Charity. By removing a small wall and laying a concrete slab, we have provided space for a clothing bank. This has already proven extremely popular, having been filled within just two weeks by our local community.

We want to extend a massive thank you to everyone involved in the project. A special mention goes to Bosworth in Bloom, who provided the Station with hanging baskets, and also to Crew Manager Mel Finnemore, the Stonemason who created such a fantastic plaque for the Station.

We are excited that the work is now complete, and the Station can be officially re-opened to the public.
