Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service welcomes the arrival of Ukrainian refugees to Leicester, Leicestershire or Rutland.

Sponsors

We want to support sponsors in keeping their guests safe from fire and other emergencies. Sponsors are encouraged to read our Fire Safety in the Home booklet for tips.

Please make sure that your guests know to dial 999 in an emergency, and that it is free to do so. Make sure they know the address and postcode of the property they are staying in. Have it written down somewhere in case of emergencies.

Here is a useful document provided by the Ukrainian community in Leicester. It has common phrases translated from English to Ukrainian and Russian, to help support sponsors with guests arriving into the UK who may not speak English.

Below is some information to support refugees.

Refugees

We want to help refugees to understand how to stay safe in their new surroundings, and how to ask for help if they need it.

In an emergency, dial 999. This covers Police, Fire and Ambulance.

The operator will ask for your address and postcode, so please make sure you know where you are. The ‘What3Words’ app, which is free to download, will help you to give a precise location to the emergency services.

Read our Fire Safety Booklet for advice on how to stay safe.
