Birstall Fire and Rescue Station was built to replace Syston Fire and Rescue Station and has now been operational since April 2013. Our station area has a large road network, including the A46, western bypass and the A6 towards Loughborough. Our call profile is a mix of road traffic collisions, domestic and industrial fires and rural firefighting. We regularly get calls into Leicester and Loughborough to assist at larger incidents.
Duty/Crewing at Station
This is a full time crewed station operating on a Day Crewing Plus duty system. This means staff self roster their own working routine and can be on duty on station for up to five days and nights in a row. This is a crewing system that is now widely operated within Leicestershire.
