Initial Information: Owner called reporting their horse stuck in mud on its side.

Updated Incident Information: Upon fire service arrival, one 400kg 23-year old horse found collapsed in mud lying on side.

Owner in attendance.

Vet assessing horse and technical rescue formulating rescue plan.

A vet has sedated the horse and technical rescue are attempting to remove the horse to an adjacent field using strops and a slide sheet.

Attempts to move horse using farm equipment were unsuccessful and unfortunately the horse passed away due to natural causes.

Crews liaised with vet and owner.
