Freedom of Information and Environmental Information Requests
Transparency laws promote access to information held by Public Authorities which includes Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service. Their premise is that people have a right to know about the activities of our Service and what information we hold, unless there is a good reason for us not to release information.
You can make a request to us in writing under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000 or the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) 2004, by completing our General Enquiries form, which is our preferred method using the button below:
You can also request information by letter to our Service Headquarters address, by email to info@leics-fire.gov.uk, or by social media on one of our official channels. When making a request you must provide us with valid contact information including where you would like information sent to, your name, and a detailed description of what information you are requesting. If making a request in writing is not accessible for you, please contact us to help you make the request another way - for example over the phone.
We are committed to being an open and transparent organisation, so before submitting your request there is already a large amount of information we have made accessible to you by browsing this website or exploring our FOI and EIR Disclosure Log using the button below:
In addition, we publish details of our Procurement and Contracts online, you can access them via the button below which directs you to the Bluelight Portal, which is a Public Contracts Register. To see our published Contract value information please select 'Leicestershire Fire' in the 'Organisation' field.
Our annual FOI and EIR Compliance Statistics Report is updated quarterly to provide details of our performance relating to the requests we have processed; reports for the current and previous years can be accessed via the link button below:

Purchase an Incident Report or Fire Investigation Report from us
Incident reports are our official documents relating to fires and special services (such as road traffic collisions). Fire Investigation Reports are documents detailing the circumstances and most probable cause and effect of Primary Fires (insurable property). These are chargeable documents which are exempt from disclosure under FOIA, prices vary depending upon the report type and our current charges can be viewed below. To enquire about purchasing an Incident Report or Fire Investigation Report email info@leics-fire.gov.uk or submit your request here using our General Enquiries Form.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service as a Public Authority is entitled to make reasonable charges for the administration of requests for certain Reports we produce, this right is enacted in the Freedom Of Information Act 2000 Publication Scheme. Providing we state those services we provide that are chargeable in the public domain then these Reports are not disclosable for free under the Freedom Of Information Act (FOI) 2000. We consider any such requests we receive through our FOI process and determine whether they are chargeable or not 'case by case'. For example we do not usually make a charge when other Public Authorities request information, though we will consider legal basis before we disclose any information.
If you would like to speak to someone about our chargeable services policy then please email: dpo@leics-fire.gov.uk, write to us at our Service Headquarters address or telephone us on 0116 210 5555.
