Description

Call received to smoke seen from a derelict building near to Western Park on Hinckley Road in Leicester. Initially 2 appliances sent from Southern and Eastern Fire Stations. Shortly after arrival they requested a further 2 appliances and the Aerial Ladder Platform from Birstall Station. The further appliances were sent from Central Fire Station. A further message was received requesting one further appliance which was sent from Eastern Fire Station. There was a command support vehicle mobilised from Shepshed Station and a crew welfare vehicle from Kibworth Station. The fire was located on the first floor of a two storey building. 2 hose reels and 4 breathing apparatus were in use to search the building. At approx 20:40 the Aerial Ladder Platform was released from the incident. At approx 20:50, it was confirmed that all breathing apparatus had been withdrawn from the building and that crews were turning over and damping down debris. Hinckley Road Leicester is currently closed for vehicular access to private vehicles although buses are still running at a reduced speed. 23:06 - Fire Service now leaving the scene. Incident handed over to Leicestershire Police.
