Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) are delighted to share the news that LFRS summer intern, Christina Cooper, was awarded the 'University of Leicester 2023 Intern of the Year award. Christina stood out for her exceptional contributions to the Corporate Communications and HR Recruitment departments.
Christina joined the Service for a six-week summer internship as part of the University of Leicester's 'Citizens of Change' programme, in which undergraduate students have the opportunity to apply for a range of summer internships with organisations across Leicestershire.
Christina said, "I thoroughly enjoyed my internship; it provided me with invaluable learning opportunities and experiences, as well as having the pleasure of connecting with so many amazing people during my time there.
"I never anticipated being nominated for an award. The awards night was a fantastic chance to connect with fellow interns, employers, and staff at the University, although none of their experiences seemed as cool as mine.
"I felt just having been nominated was incredible, but winning brought me great joy. Reading the review was wonderful and provided a deep sense of appreciation, which has motivated me to keep striving for my future goals."
Corporate Communications Manager, Isobel Hall, said: "We are incredibly proud of Christina's fantastic achievement, and seeing her accomplishments recognised by the University of Leicester is a testament to the quality of our internship program and the calibre of individuals we attract."
