Safety Advice for Communities During National Disorder

In light of the recent national picture around protests and disorder, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service would like to offer advice to our communities about how to stay safe.

We are committed to supporting and protecting all members of our communities and continue to work closely with our partners to prepare and respond to any incidents.

We recommend:

  • Ensure your escape routes are clear.
  • Review your fire risk assessment to identify and mitigate potential fire hazards.
  • Remove any waste, cardboard or other items from outside your property that could be used as fuel for fires.
  • Move any hard materials, such as bricks and building materials, from outside your property to a secure location.
  • Ensure staff members and other users of your property know what to do in the event of a fire.

If you are concerned about the threat of arson, please take a look at our handy checklists, which provide helpful information about safety precautions you can take. https://leics-fire.gov.uk/arson

In the event of a fire, please call 999 and follow the fire evacuation instructions for your building.
