Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) is working with the Local Resilience Forum (LRF) to carry out a three-yearly training exercise on Tuesday 10 December 2024, at the Calor Gas Site on Occupation Road, Stoney Stanton (LE9 4JJ). The exercise will run from 09:40 to 13:00 and involve multi-agency coordination to test and improve emergency response procedures.
A short section of road near the site will be closed for the duration of the exercise. LFRS will dispatch crews from Hinckley and Harborough Fire Stations with appliances traveling without blue lights or sirens to minimise disruption. As part of the exercise, crews will also access water from the reservoir on Mill Lane in Earl Shilton.
This is a controlled and carefully planned exercise, with no fire, gas release, or hazards to the public. All activity will remain within the confines of the Calor Gas site, except for water access and the temporary road closure.
Simon Holden, Area Manager Response for LFRS, said; "Exercises like this are essential to ensuring we remain prepared for any potential emergencies. By working together in a realistic scenario, we can refine our response plans and ensure the safety of our communities."
Local residents and businesses are advised that this is a planned exercise, and there is no cause for concern. We appreciate the community's understanding and cooperation during this exercise.
