The request:
1. Can you provide some data on the configuration of the unit - size, pump size, tank size, etc.
2. How many people do you staff it with?
3. I saw where you were putting them in select stations. Are they the primary response vehicle out of those stations, or a secondary response unit based on the call type?
4. What type of incidents do you respond these units on? If you respond them to structural calls, what other resources respond with it?
Our response:
1. Can you provide some data on the configuration of the unit - size, pump size, tank size, etc.
Our response:
Iveco Daily 7.0 Ton Gross
Godiva KP2 Pump – 1500 litres a minute at 10 Bar
Tank size – 900 litres
Maximum crew of 5
Nebula Ultra High Pressure misting system
2. How many people do you staff it with?
Our response: The Variable Response Vehicle (VRV) allows for a variable crewing model of between 2 to 5 staff crewing the vehicle. When crewed with 2-3 staff the incident type is limited. The VRV can still be mobilised to incident types to provide an additional resource in addition to the pre-determined attendance (PDA) for the incident type. When crewed with 4-5 the VRV is able to respond to all incident types. When based at an On-Call station this variable crewing model has seen an increase in the vehicle availability.
3. I saw where you were putting them in select stations. Are they the primary response vehicle out of those stations, or a secondary response unit based on the call type?
Our response: The VRV's can be the primary response vehicle. Although the crewing available will dictate incident type attendance as part of the initial pre-determined attendance.
4. What type of incidents do you respond these units on? If you respond them to structural calls, what other resources respond with it?
Our response: When crewed with between 2-3 staff the VRV will only attend 7 agreed incident types. Such as small fire outdoors. It can also be mobilised to other incident types as an enhancement to the PDA with 2-3 staff. When crewed with 4-5 staff the VRV is classed as a pumping appliance and is part of any PDA.
