House Fire on Bedale Drive, Leicester

On Tuesday 10 September at 04:02, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) were called to reports of a house fire on Bedale Drive, Leicester. Leicestershire Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) partners also responded.

Around 25 Firefighters responded to the fire from Western, Birstall, Central and Eastern Stations, including use of the Arieal Ladder Platform (ALP). In addition to the five appliances, two additional welfare and support vehicles attended from Billesdon, Wigston, and Shepshed Stations. Four Firefighters with breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, and the ALP were used to extinguish the fire.

A number of people were evacuated from the property before LFRS arrived and were taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary by ambulance. Sadly, a person was pronounced deceased at the property.

Simon Holden, Area Manager Response said, "This is a terribly sad incident and the thoughts of all of us at Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service are with the family, friends and all those affected at this difficult time."

"Our Community Safety team will be in the local community over the coming weeks to offer support and advice where needed."

The fire is under investigation by LFRS and Leicestershire Police.
