Prohibition Notice Served St. Clements Court, Leicester

On Thursday 28 September at 13:49, we served a Prohibition Notice on blocks A, B, and C at St. Clements Court, Leicester. This was due to various breaches of the Fire Safety Order 2005 (as amended). This was following concerns raised by partner agencies regarding the inability to escape in the event of a fire.

We take the safety of residents seriously and only proceed with a Prohibition Notice in the interests of the safety of our communities and where there is an immediate risk to life. We appreciate how devastating it is for people to leave their homes and we will only issue a Prohibition Notice when all other alternatives have been exhausted.

We have enhanced attendance planned for this site due to the severity of the notice.

Leicester City Council are helping those affected to find other places to stay where they are unable to stay with friends and family.

We are unable to comment any further due to ongoing legal proceedings.
